We start our day tour at 9:30 a.m. and pick you up from your accommodation. Together with the group we drive to the port of Nanay, where we begin our journey by boat.
Shortly after the start of the boat trip we can marvel at the confluence of the Nanay River and the Amazon. The water of the Nanay River is darker than the Amazon, which
is clearly visible at this point.
During our boat trip we have the chance to see both pink and gray river dolphins.
The next highlight is to visit the indigenous Yaguas people. We have the opportunity to learn about their exciting traditions and customs.
A buffet of local dishes is offered for lunch in a jungle lodge with a beautiful view.
After lunch we drive by boat to the Monkey Island. This sanctuary and rescue center provides a temporary home for injured or domesticated monkeys until they can survive on their own in the wild again. During our visit, we learn and observe a variety of species in their habitat.
Before heading back to Iquitos, we visit another Rescue Center, where we can observe diffrent local animals like toucan, parrots, prehistoric turtles, sloths and anaconda.
We are back in Iquitos arround 5.30 p.m.
